Lavery expertly plays jazzy, psychedelic soul that you hear as if through a fine Irish mist."
John Shand, The Sydney Morning Herald, Australia
Lavery are an eight-piece band from Dublin, mixing funk, soul, jazz with pop. Influenced by Hiatus Kaiyote, Olivia Dean and BADBADNOTGOOD, their sound combines tight grooves, rich harmonies and catchy songwriting. Fronted by Brazilian vocalist Anelise Furkin, the band bring a touch of Brazilian rhythm and feel to their sound. On stage, it’s all about the vibe between the musicians and audience with long builds and high energy guitar solos.
Since forming in 2023, Lavery have played venues including Whelan’s, The Academy, the National Gallery of Ireland and a sold-out headline show The Sugar Club in 2026. Irish Festival appearances include two shows at Electric Picnic, performing at both the Mindfield main stage and Brewer’s Yard, as well as Beyond the Pale and two years at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival, the most recent of which sold-out.
The band have also played across the UK and Ireland, opening for Grammy Award-winning artist Sly5thAve and R&B singer IAMDBB during her world tour. This November, Lavery return to the EFG London Jazz Festival for the third time. The group have also appeared on the Chichester Fringe and Bath Fringe Festival line-ups.
Their debut single, The Mist, and EP Jade Garden have both charted on the US JazzWeek chart, with Jade Garden spending nine weeks in the charts and receiving strong reviews.
"The incredibly lush tune 'What I Want...starts off with groovy, mesmeric instrumentation that seamlessly smooths into a jazzy guitar solo that causes a stir before closing"
